let the count down begin. less than two weeks. well I am in the studio and coming up with results. the shoot is split into three sections.

1. The OTHERS is the first section. Anthony and Tim will not be needed but instead will be preparing the models in the house.

2. The second is using both the OTHERS and the PRIVILEGED. This part of the shoot will focus on my story-telling ideas.

3. Final is the PRIVILEGED/STEAMPUNK shoot. There will be no OTHERS or anything like that in these shoots. One of the purposes of this section of the shoot is getting good quality compositions and images (of hair and costumes) in a setting on the beach.

The compositions have been thought up - I am working on final images to prepare for the shooting time to become my template for the day.

Below you will see my thoughts on costume and model placement. What are your opinions? Thank you for your time.

I also receieved goos news. My proposal for Provincetown has passed the first pre-lim. In the next few days I have to re-write the proposal and it will be submitted to the board on October 5th. The opportunity has become larger than I could have ever imagined if it passes the board. Another artist will join our ranks by filming a short documentary of the day. Possible fall show and/or auction in Provincetown. The images and documentary will be connected to the Provincetown Carnival website with publicity given to participating artists. Wish us luck on October5th.

As I get closer to the two week mark, a few people have asked - so what will the OTHERS look like?

It is not my intent to make any of the models ugly, but I do want a severe difference in the cosmetic appearance of both groups. I strongly believe this will help in the story telling and composition of each picture.

I do not want want one group to be seen as black and another white. I am mixing the models from a variety of backgrounds on purpose. It is my hopes that the make-up, sand and etc. will allow people to see the two race of people being created for the images.

I stumbled upon Jean Demers page. The treatment he has done on his models is very similar to what I would like to achieve in the photo shoot. Examples are below.

Hello to all PRIVILEGED SERIES models:

I am excited to say that I believe we have all the models needed for the shoot. Expect an email once a week to inform you on the shoot details. Everyone please send me a phone number and a few dates/times that are good for me to contact you. I would like to speak with everyone to introduce them to PRIVILEGED project.

WHAT IS THE PRIVILEGED SERIES?:

Official Write-up: Status is achieved or ascribed. The fawning masses contribute to the myth that achievement is reserved for some, not all. What would a stadium be without tiers, a society without castes? Status becomes privilege and equates with money--old or new. The upper crust of such a society relies on minions, dropouts, and lower classes to get the distasteful and unworthy jobs done. Socialism and capitalism clash. This series brings to form in poerty, paint, photo, and ink the unspoken challenge we'd rather not hear - in pictures we'd rather not see.

He will be creating poems/stories that look at some of the darkest times of humanity where groups have abused their power to humiliate other groups. These stories will be placed into illustrations that combine photography, ink, and acrylic paint.

THE DATE:

The shoot will occur October 10th, 2010.

SHOOT LOCATION:

At this time the shoot will occur at TYBEE ISLAND. The alternate location will be FISH HAUL CREEK in HHI,SC.

TENTATIVE SHOOT TIMELINE FOR TYBEE ISLAND (the final will be sent no later than Mon. Oct. 5, 2010.):

This photo-shoot has three sections:

-The OTHERS only

-group shots consisting of:

1. intertwined bodies (ie. to make a tree)

2. holding each other (ie. the fallen and/or to comfort in hard times

-The OTHERS & PRIVILEGED together

-group shots consist of:

1. PRIVILEGED never touch the others.

2. TABOO shots (ie. couples intertwined - One of each race never touching)

3. PRIVILEGED treat OTHERS as servant (ie. serving fruit)

4. OTHERS clustered away from the PRIVILEGED (ie. hidden behind rocks and trees)

5. STEALING purse

6. OTHERS want to be like PRIVILEGED

MEETING LOCATION:

This information will be sent no later than Mon. Oct. 5, 2010. The meeting location will be a condo on Tybee Island.

WHO ARE THE PRIVILEGED?:

The "PRIVILEGED" are godlike characters. They will be wearing fashions from Anthony Canney. These characters have been granted a special right, advantage, or immunity granted only to a particular group of people. They embody wealth, popularity, power, and the upper-class.

WHO ARE THE OTHERS?:

They are the group that is without power, wealth, and status in a community/society/nation that comonly discriminates against them due to different races, religions, languages, or political persuasions. The term OTHERS refers to a person that is different or distinct from the known - PRIVILEGED. The OTHERS will be covered in mud/sand and paint while wearing skin color or black tube top/sports bra (females) and skin color/black tight fitting biker shorts (everyone).

**Acrylic paint and mud crack when it dries on the skin. If oil is applied before application it applifies the cracking. I do not want the OTHERS to look ugly so around the face it will be smeared. The reapplication of both mud and sand will be repeated thru out the shoot. No paint will be applied to the hair. First models apply baby oil to protect their hair. Next some mud is applied to blend it into the face. The oil will help everything to wash out. There is an outside showers located in various places on the beach. The showers in the condo will also be made available for the models. Please bring any toiletries that you require.

Acrylic paint is water based so it washes off the skin in clumps. Both acrylic and mud will rob the skin of moister. During the shoot mud and paint create a cold layer on the skin. Neither tend to be warm as it dries.

WINGS ON THE BRAIN

So it seems I am not the only person to have wings on the brain. I do not know if I will have enough time to pull it off since I thought of it only a week ago... But what if there were two angels in the shoot that represent Adam and Eve...the two that created everyone on earth both the OTHERS and the PRIVILEGED.

I found some wings on the net that I could alter in enough time for the shoot.

I am excited to say that the DC group finally has a place to rest their head on Tybee Island. As of right now Tybee will be the shoot location. I will scout for a location my arrival. I have found another location near HHI. But the final decision will happen once I arrive. I am checking into having a scouter viewing the sites before I arrive to insure I can get everything that I am looking for.

For all models involved I will be contacting everyone with location and time in a week or two. We are now at the 3 week mark. I am excited for the number of people that are involved. This will be a unique/fun experience for everyone. Thank you to everyone that is involved.

Taken with the iphone these are the first completed centerpiece piece for a possible necklace used in the shoot. All it needs is the sealing coat and of course I did not buy it when I was at the store. I can not wait to do another. I was playing with the material since I have not built anything in a long time. I cannot wait to see the final result. I am sending it to a jewelry artist to place if into a necklace form.

Sketching the PRIVILEGE CHARACTERS

The twins - Two PRIVILEGED wearing coats one male one female. Can give the girl an victorian up-do with curls or spiky hair that turns into feathers. The male either short hair or bald.

The men should either be short hair or bald... place feathers behind the ear using wig glue.

The hooded girl with a simple victorian hair style with braids around the crown of the head.

Upper left and bottom right are two idea examples for the hooded girl. The bottom right is more of a big hair and curls look.

Another option for a male character that has long hair. We would still place feathers behind the ears.

Another example of a male character with more of a spiky hairstyle that will merge to feathers.

The queen mum - she wears the Victorian style ball gown - i prefer hair style two better. the hair is big and resembles something that you would find in a victorian high society - off of the wig piece are the feathers. This is a hairstyle where Cabell can go wild. These designs can be done in place of the spiky feather idea for the hooded girl above.

So most of the men either have short hair and no hair at all. So what do I do - - -Of course I hit the internet for inspration and direction. As everyone knows nothing is orginal - everything has sdone in the past... but its how you spin it that makes it new and unique. So for the men they will either be bald/short hair with feathers attached feathers behind the ears. Other inspirations for the mean come from the following images:

here is an example of how hair can actually look like feathers:

this is another example of a short hair style where feathers can be added behind the ears as well as a stronger design of feather like hair being created down the back of the head.

the following are examples of ways feather can be attached to the hair by common products found in stores. I like the idea but of course I would liek to see this effect pushed.

i really liek the below look i can make the hair piece creating a small face and adding feather to it. - It might need some ringlets coming down to make it a little more victorian. This look could be created the day of the shoot using the girls own hair.

I really liked the eye make-up in the below image. think it could be used for the PRIVILEGED.

I absolutely love this costuming and coudl see myself creating a similar version for an angel version of the privileged using the jewelry i am creating.

It's almost done - I just have to push the wings by twisting the feathers. With it's wing span the piece is as big as my chest. It will be heavier than i thought. because it just gets bigger. the colored clay is softer than the other so I am afraid I will not be able to dig out the inside after getting this far. I will blacken the piece so that the white stones glow. Then I will add the bronze or gold leafing on top. I am thinking this should be a higher necklace to appear more like a chest plate - not like the lower hanging necklace like in the POWER - Kanye West video

So tonight I was up late trying to get some thoughts out of my head and I came across this series done by Glasshaus studios in Florida. This is not exactly what I want but is very close. The photos of the PRIVILEGED without the OTHERS - I want to portray them as a Sunday afternoon relaxing as the upper-class. THE OTHERS Concept

The OTHERS are the lowest on the ladder. There will be a range of models each one bringing a unique body type and look to the picture. Examples of their design are velow. This will be achieve by using mud and paint. It will dry then be reapplied thru-out the shoot. This effect is so that the different models in the end will have a unified look. These characters in the final images will fade in and out of the picture by overlapping two pictures together.

ALPHA-OMEGA:THE BEGINNING OF THE END is a unique undertaking that flows from a collaboration between fashion designer Anthony Canney, hair and make-up artist Tim Cabell, photographer Julie Simser, and artist Anthony Dortch. The theme of the shoot stems from the interaction of two continents, Asia and Africa. These continents will wear the creations of Canney and Cabell. Mercedes Monroe Cassadine and Yoo-Mei, are physical representations of the the queens of their respective continents. Painted male models (Alexander, Benefield, Brennan, Crawford and Miskel) represent the guardians, which are characteristic escorts to the queen. Simser will shoot a series of images highlighting the female figures, allowing the viewer to analyze and synthesize various female interactions. This leads the viewer to surmise conclusively that Africa continues its long history of being plundered, first by Europe from the north, and now by Asia from the east.

THE PRIVILEGED SERIES:

Official Write-up: Status is achieved or ascribed. The fawning masses contribute to the myth that achievement is reserved for some, not all. What would a stadium be without tiers, a society without castes? Status becomes privilege and equates with money--old or new. The upper crust of such a society relies on minions, dropouts, and lower classes to get the distasteful and unworthy jobs done. Socialism and capitalism clash. This series brings to form in poerty, paint, photo, and ink the unspoken challenge we'd rather not hear - in pictures we'd rather not see.

The shoot will occur either the
October 10th or the 24th.

Author - Jackson Lassiter will be creating poems/stories that look at some of the darkest times of humanity where groups have abused their power to humiliate other groups. These stories will be placed into illustrations that combine photography, ink, and acrylic paint.

LOCATION:
The location will be a selected area somewhere around Tybee Beach, Boneventure Cemetery, Fort Pulaski, or Pickney Island. I will not know the exact location until the team has scouted the area a few days before the shoot.

THE PRIVILEGED - PREP:
For this shoot I am looking for roughly 5 to 6 people to be the "privileged" - godlike characters. The this group of people will be wearing fashion from Anthony Canney. The finished design is still being discussed among the team. So far Tim Cabell is working on a make-up design that is inspired by Egyptian culture, while the hair is inspired by Seraphims and Medusa.

THE OTHERS - PAINTED MALE/FEMALE MODEL PREP:
For this shoot I am looking for roughly 7 people to be the "others" - the people that are without power, wealth, and status. The OTHERS will either be body painted or the women will be wearing skin color or black tube top/sports bra and skin color/black tight fitting biker shorts and the men skin color or black tight fitting biker shorts.

The OTHERS will be painted with lines (if they are painted - if not the lines will be added later). The lines will be painted from head to toe using a combination of both acrylic paint and body make-up paint. ALL MODELS WILL DO A PATCH TEST TO INSURE THAT NOONE IS ALLERGIC TO THE PRODUCTS. Instructions for BODY & HAIR LIQUID MAKE-UP

Body and hair liquid make-up is a water based, oil free pigmented liquid that can be blended to create custom colors when needed.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Liquids can be applied with fingertips, sponges, and brushes.Make-up will dry simply from exposure to air.

REMOVAL:
Easily removed with soap and water.

WARNING:
Do not use red or yellow liquid make-up in the area of the eye. Red may temporarily stain skin. You may wish to patch test before extensive application.

FYI - As of right now most of of the PRIVILEGED female looks are a size 6-8 and the one lingerie look is a 2-4. I hope this does not discourage anyone for being interested. There are also room for people to be apart of the OTHERS.

I was searching for more models when I came across this image. This is the closest idea to what I hope to accomplish out of the Privileged so far. Just add a smokey eye - with a hint of an egyptian swirl near the eye and a little glitter body butter just so the light can dance off the model's body. It comes complete with a corset which is a signature look of Anthony Canney's designs. Great job goes to Phantom Orchid .

Yes the pinking took forever. all the edges have been hand finished to keep the look clean. The elastic inserts are made from vintage elastic I happened to find on eBay. I have been wanting to try this for years!

LATEX! FINALLY! I have had a stash of latex fabric for easily 4- 5 years and have done nothing with it. I can't wait to finish this up and try it on!

Privileged inspiration

This is the closest representation facially of what I imagine a Privileged being would look like - instead of gold I want something like body glitter butter - the hair style would be victorian in nature, smokey eye-shadow and a hint of egyptian eye ornamentation wearing Anthony Canney and Tim Cabell designs.

The golden women is what i am aiming for in terms of the privileged but instead of a painted golden girl i am thinking more jennifer lopez - waiting for tonight - body glitter. Add a little hint of Egyptian markings around the eyes but not tooo much. just simple after thought along with a smokey eye.

Ok there are 3 main places I am looking at. 1. cemetary 2. fort 3. beach/swamp. I have to check to see if we can even take pictures in the fort and cemetary area. There are two more potential places where pictures can be taken and thats the fountain in downtown savannah and then there is a swamp/woods/beach area in hilton head. the hilton head location is further out while the other location are closer together so i am hoping to find something similar near tybee. I think that is what i want to most is a swamp/beach/woods area.
